Good dental health and hygiene is essential for overall well-being and, from time to time, everyone needs to visit their dentist for treatments. At CityZEN Dental we believe that these visits and treatments can be moments of healing and quietude.
About Us
At CityZEN Dental we use a conservative and holistic approach to treat each patient as a whole, because we believe dental care is not just about teeth.
What Sets Us Apart?
At CityZEN Dental, we combine years of experience and expertise with state-of-the-art technology to provide a conservative and holistic approach to dental care: we treat the whole person, not just the tooth.
Led and inspired by Dr. Mandy Kouroshnia, DDS, we are the only dental studio that overlays therapeutic modalities such as reiki, aromatherapy and yoga therapeutics during dental procedures. Our approach can result in better outcomes that include less pain and discomfort and faster healing times.
We offer Reiki before, during and/or after treatments. Reiki is a light healing touch that can create feelings of ease and relaxation. When the mind and body are at ease, anesthesia can work faster and pain medications can be more efficient, because the body, on a cellular level, has more resources to devote toward healing and recovery. This effect has been evidenced in many anesthesia articles that show the close association between effective pain control and faster healing after surgeries.
Many of our patients come to us with TMJ and facial pain, which is often due to tension in their neck and back. As part of our holistic, personalized approach, we offer simple exercises and restorative yoga poses from an experienced therapist to help alleviate pain and to give them tools that they can use on their own to address any ongoing postural habits that may contribute to jaw pain, headaches and discomfort.
To address sleep apnea, we assess airway obstructions by combining breath awareness practices with airway evaluations utilizing CBCT cone beam technology. Our board-certified sleep medicine Physician may suggest a sleep study as an additional diagnostic tool. Once the root cause is better understood, Dr. Mandy will guide you through appropriate solutions which may include creating a custom mouthpiece to help alleviate obstructions. She might also recommend a CPAP or Bi-PAP machine. Our yoga therapist can recommend and teach you certain breath practices, particularly nostril breathing, that can support feelings of space in the airway. When the breath feels easier, the mind and body can begin to re-organize around these feelings of space and ease which can contribute to healing and a good night’s rest.
Aromatherapy has been used for centuries to alleviate pain and anxiety. We run diffusers in our treatment rooms and offer personalized essential oil therapy that can help alleviate pain, stress, and nausea during your visit with us.
Dr. Mandy is a firm believer in personalized care and, to this end, develops patient-specific approaches to treatments, scheduling and payments. She can often accommodate same-day visits and emergency appointments. To best fit your financial means, CityZEN Dental offers flexible payment plans, in-house memberships, and accepts insurance payments. We look forward to meeting you!
